Macbeth
is a mineral-rich factory planet of the Lylat System. It has been
largely industrialized, with miners and such flocking to the planet.
Allegedly hollow after a geological event shrunk its core, Macbeth is
still able to support life and is well known for containing a wealth of
minerals. Home to a large population of miners, engineers and
scientists, travel to and from this planet occurs more often then any
other, and it is a seemingly endless source of supplies, although
conditions on it can be harsh at times. It has an advanced railway
system.
Prior to the Lylat War, Macbeth was the heart of the Lylat aerospace industry. Gifted minds flocked to the planet to share their knowledge and make obscene amounts of money. A consortium of companies were in charge of meeting the demands of ever-increasing orders for their products. Despite making massive sums of wealth, a group of greedy CEOs plotted together to become even more powerful. They betrayed the consortium by swallowing up rival companies through hostile takeovers and leveraged buyouts. Due to the infighting and inadequate defenses, Andross and his Venomian fleets quickly took over the planet in the beginning days of the Lylat War.
Despite Andross having firm control over the planet, he allowed the various corporations to exist, if only to fuel and arm his large Venomian fleets. While some of the CEOs willingly served due to promises of even greater wealth under the Androssian regime, several served only to survive and secretly served with the hopes that they can be freed.
